"  Cruel   Nature "

Most wildlife stories in the eye of a photographer or person who has a deep passion for animals are sad stories, and this particular story is no different.

One day, a friend and I decided to go look for birds and after several hours of scouting an area where we thought owls might be, we found a tree with a large hole in it. We didn't see any owls at this point, so we left. Then at the end of the day my friend and I went our own ways.  Next day, I decided to go back to the same place and scout the area one more time. To my surprise, there were two owlets sticking their little heads out of the tree hole. When I was there earlier with my friend, I had a hunch that there was something alive inside that tree.

So now that I  knew for sure, I decided to observe them for a month and every single day I would go by the tree to watch them grow. Soon, they began to get strong and I delighted in taking their pictures as they were growing so fast.  Then one day,  I saw just one owlet in their nest and I got concerned. I scouted the adjacent area and all I was able to see was the mother or father owl keeping a watch close by. Then all of a sudden I heard a cry that pierced the sky, a very unusual sound that I've never heard before. I looked around and there it was: this little baby owl lying on the ground. It was a sad scene, however I was afraid to do anything because the parents were  watching me and it was getting dark so I decided to head home.

The next morning I rushed over to the same area wondering about the baby owl on the ground and when I got there, unfortunately, it was nowhere to be found. I sat on a rock, tears streaming down my face, thinking about what had happened to the baby owl and thinking as well how nature works in such mysterious ways. God gave him life and that life was cut so short...

At one point I thought this story would have a happy ending but when it comes to Nature it's usually a sad story the way animals have to go through life, for SURVIVAL.

To add to this story the two owlets were so much together and always next to each other like twins. The smaller one is the one that fell out of the nest, and of course only the images are left to remind me of this story.
